Description
A Breve coffee (also known as Caffè Breve) is a rich and creamy espresso-based drink made with steamed half-and-half instead of milk. This creates a luxurious texture and a naturally sweet taste without needing extra sugar. If you love a velvety latte but want something even creamier, this is the perfect drink for you!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 shot of espresso (or 2 shots for a stronger drink)
- ½ cup half-and-half (equal parts whole milk and heavy cream)
- Optional: Sweetener, vanilla syrup, or a sprinkle of cinnamon
Instructions
-
Brew the Espresso:
- Use an espresso machine, Moka pot, or Aeropress to make a fresh shot of strong espresso.
-
Steam the Half-and-Half:
- Heat the half-and-half using a steam wand until it’s hot and frothy.
- If you don’t have a steam wand, warm the half-and-half on the stovetop or microwave, then froth it using a milk frother or whisk.
-
Assemble the Drink:
- Pour the freshly brewed espresso into a mug.
- Gently pour the steamed half-and-half over the espresso, holding back the froth with a spoon.
- Finally, spoon the creamy froth on top for a beautiful finish.
-
Optional Additions:
- Sweeten with sugar, honey, or vanilla syrup for extra flavor.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon, cocoa powder, or nutmeg for a café-style touch.
Notes
- A Breve is naturally sweeter than a latte due to the half-and-half, so you may not need extra sugar.
- If you prefer a cold version, serve it over ice for an Iced Breve Coffee.
- Breve coffee has more fat and calories than a regular latte, but it’s a decadent treat worth enjoying!
